One November Morning
One November morning, I arrived at the shop early. Along my way I stopped for a hot coffee and a few pastries to share. I came into the storefront, heat blasting, and lit the candles strewn about before anything else. Before anyone arrived, I swept and sipped my coffee in silence, tidied the shelves, making little adjustments here and there.
A morning with Alba of Absence Studio is always a treasured one. Even while the sky was a bit more heavy and grey, and we were in our winter sweaters for the first times, Alba managed to illuminate even the darkest shadows of the shop.
I spend a lot of time here, which makes it wildly refreshing to see this beautiful space through another's eyes. The appreciation deepens the longer I sit with these captures. Can you imagine the texture of these ceramics in your hands?
It was a sweet and sleepy morning. We moved slowly through our motions as Alba captured us all in our typical flow, stealing bites of pastry in between. We've started to decorate the storefront for winter and the holiday season, but this year that looks like cozy blankets, chunky wool stockings, dried florals that translate our aesthetic to a minimal and natural holiday-scape. (So far, anyway).
The studio was a bit too dark for Alba to shoot back, so we carried Sarah's wheel out front to experiment. These images are simply gorgeous, timeless stills of an artist at work.
Thank you, Alba for another authentic portrayal of Notary Ceramics.
We adore you!
xx, until next time
